We are fascinated with ancient art from all over the world. The design was born when Katy found an image that captivated her in a book of art from the Middle East. It is an ancient Iranian image showing a bearded musician playing a stringed instrument similar to a lute. Katy’s design evolved from there, with horse-riding archers, both men and women riding in the Mongolian style of shooting from behind. Images of Istanbul can be seen within the horses and we have combined tongue and cheek and more comic Moroccon images of mint tea waiters with more traditional Islamic art that enshrouds the central musician.
